TTM is a performance piece that took place on January 2014. Set over a frozen Lake Ontario, the site-specific performance involved a broken ring of matches stacked on top of snow. The artist lay nude inside the circle while lighting the matches and letting them burn out. The circle is a symbol of continuity while the burning of the matches is representative of the paradox of both life and death. The performance was later exhibited in a gallery space in the form of a video projection accompanied by an installation of a single row of matches standing up in a complete circle. Inside the circle was a slab of pork laid on a bed of snow. The completion of this circle mends the original idea and intention of the performance, compromised by the unpredictability of nature while the pork is a metaphor for the artist’s body. The addition of the projection eliminates the illusion of time to create a dialogue between the audience and the work.
